My GLE is due for its 80k service and I’m shopping around
I’ve got a 2018 GLE 350 that’s been absolutely fantastic for the family, but it’s coming up on that 80,000 kilometer service and I know this is one of the bigger ones where they do all the fluids, filters, spark plugs, and a thorough inspection of pretty much everything. The dealership sent me a quote and honestly my jaw hit the floor, it was well over 8,000 dirhams for what seems like a pretty standard service, and I just can’t justify spending that kind of money when I know there have to be more reasonable options out there. I’ve been asking around in some of the Mercedes owner groups I’m part of and a lot of people seem to be moving away from the dealer once their cars are out of warranty, saying they’ve found independent shops that do equally good work for literally half the price. I’m definitely leaning towards going independent this time because the car is well out of warranty anyway and I don’t see the point in paying those premium prices just for the sake of having a dealership stamp in the service book. I’ve been doing quite a bit of research online and I’d recommend anyone in a similar situation to check out this Mercedes service center if they’re looking for alternatives, because there’s a lot of useful information out there that I wish I’d known about years ago. Has anyone here made the switch from dealer to independent for their Mercedes servicing, and if so, how was your experience in terms of quality and cost savings? I’m really curious to hear what others have gone through before I make my final decision.
